Getting back to the Labour party......
With all the Brouhaha, we have to question what this is about.
Is it a plot to oust Corbyn? He is particularly weak in situations like this. Almost defended Shah at first before realising that was a mistake and then took action. Any Burnham has been very vocal on the crisis.
Is it really that the Labour party is institutionally anti-Semitic? Left wing parties like to associate themselves with the down trodden minorities. Its easy for them to fall into the trap, because the Jewish diaspora stereotypically may be mainly middle class, businessman or bankers. However racism is racism, rich or poor.
It should also be noted that many labour voters are from Muslim areas like Bradford. Support is important, and just like Nas Shah, who probably grew up with anti Jewish influences, the labour party will have to watch this problem.
Lastly, as I highlighted in one of my previous threads, free speech not tolerated in 2015 (16), there are things you can say and things you can't say. If you are accused of Islamaphobia or anti-Semitism, what ever you said, true or not, the label sticks.
Ken Livingstone found this out.
Its going to be interesting to see how Corbyn navigates through this minefield |
