Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and elsewhere, going back to their roots in Israel?
Surely their roots are in Tunisia Algeria, Morocco and elsewhere?
But it does touch on the major difficulty when discussing the area and not being branded anti-Semitic. If Israel is the de facto place of safety for Jews of any origin, simply because it is Israel and they are Jews, then any criticism of Israel becomes a de facto criticism of Jews and there seems an automatic elevation to anti-Semitism, "the worst kind of racism". (Since Israel is more about being a safe haven for Jews than a nation with an indigenous population)
Its a sweet deal for Israeli politicians. Whatever they do, criticism risks being anti-Semitic, so very few raise an opinion on the matter. |
