Moaning about a pay increase, just unbelievably ungrateful. Why should anyone get a pay increase just because of continuing to work there. I never understood that attitude.

Just shows a complete lack of understanding of how public sector pay works

Maybe try doing their job rather than sitting in that high castle bemoaning a pay increase for it . Why should anyone get a pay increase for continuing to work there ? I'm not quite sure I get your attitude on this as it sounds rather dismissive and indeed out of touch.

Seriously, are you that out of touch with reality?  I assume you’ve had more than one pay rise since 2009 and don’t work 12 hour shifts with minimal breaks and crappy conditions? As an example, my wife walked on to her ward on Monday morning to find half of the ceiling collapsed due to a leaking air conditioning unit.  The other two aircon units have been off for 3 months as they also leak so the staff and patients are expected to stay in up to 35 degree heat due to the 10 dialysis machines running.

I think those nurses deserve some recognition rather than being accused of ‘moaning’!

That 2% pay rise equates to 0.22% a year since the pay freeze was established.  So it's unsurprising it's reception has been frosty...

You’re right, it’s a greedy attitude when they’re already so well paid for doing a job actually actually helping others instead of lining their own pockets...

Without a pay increase then, in real terms, they are taking a pay cut for continuing to work there.

I'm private sector but, other than during the last recession for two years, I've had inflation linked pay rises every year I've worked. I've also had personal and company performance based increases too. I'd not stay with a job if they paid me less every year for 9 years.
