The more I read this the more tin foil hat it gets. Russia nuking a NATO country to prove what exactly?

If they did it, do we really believe America won't retaliate?

It would just end up badly for both sides and both side know that.

Also, if America killed bin laden but not his ideas, what makes you believe defeating ISIS will kill the idea? The whole thing is riddled with these kind of assertions

Still a bit vague, most including Russia know that America won't attack Russia no matter who is in charge, they would have to be literally mental to do so (or be prepared for one hell of a war)

In a conventional war, russia would not stand a chance and most analyse agree with such accretion. The fact this would not be conventional is the larger issue.

Its too easy to say we created the mess and ISIS. We didn't.  ISIS was formed out of events in Syria and Iraq.
-Assad putting down a revolt.  -The government of Iraq marginalising Sunnis. Funding was initially from middle east states.

For what you are suggesting it won't matter which government is in power as we'd all be knackered

The worry with stepping back and relying on local powers are that the rulers (kings and the like) are against ISIS for the most part but their people, some of those in some positions of authority in the police and judges and military are sympathetic if not supporters of ISIS.

We could see a coup taking out the leadership and replacing it with ISIS, with a ready made country to rule over, military with the best equipment and trained to use it.

Not getting involved in this one has its risks too.
