The war started for Britain with Germany's invasion of Poland in September 1939.

The US did not enter the war until after the Japanese bombed the US fleet at Pearl Harbour in December 1941.

The US were forced into the war - they really did not want anything to do with it because of the deep recession they were in at the time, big unemployment etc.

As stated i know this. re ww2 it started after pear harbour for them properly though they were involved earlier in some naval activity with us low key. That said there was talk that churchill knew of the impending strikes but chose not to disclose this as he knew it would bring in america

That will only happen if the Gulf States existences are threatened by the ISIS Caliphate. I don't know how many times I have to repeat this, ISIS are following a rough plan laid out by Osama Bin Laden's dreams of a caliphate which extends into Europe.

ISIS have to be confronted now, unless you want them to build themselves up into a proper state who may potentially have weapons of mass destruction (they may have some of Assad's chemical and biological weapons) and no scruples when it comes to using them. As it is they stole around $2 billion in cash from an Iraqi bank and also have US tanks and other things left behind by fleeing Iraqi soldiers.

Obama has withdrawn US Troops from the Middle East and has increased Oil extraction within the US. It's not made a jot of difference to those that hate the US. You are damned if you and damned if you don't. Putin has taken advantage of the US who he perceives as weak. I read one report a few weeks ago that there is a Russian plan being hawked in regards to hitting a capital city of one of the newer NATO members with Nuclear weapon. As Putin and co do not believe NATO would uphold it's an attack on one is an attack on all policy. We are in exceedingly dangerous times at the moment.

ISIS are a threat to all. There is no dilly dallying to be had in terms of confronting them and defeating them. The US may have killed Osama Bin Laden, but they have not killed his ideas. And tbh we created the mess that allowed ISIS it's chance so we have to confront them sooner rather than later.

Women are being sold into slavery, some are being tied to trees to be gang raped by ISIS jihadists at their leisure and others are being brutally murdered for being infidels etc.

From what I can see we can't do anything, or should we just go for a full scale war and see how that goes?

How are they going to get the tanks to Europe? What expertise do they have of using these tanks and other equipment?

If Putin launches a nuke at someone, it's likely we are all knackered anyway...

I would be doubtful if putin lunched a nuculer attack. At that point like it or not its going to be bad. If it were to happen it would not be an overt operation by him which would make any response hard. If suspected then i think NATO would try to find away not to attack as they would need proof. That said if the rocket came from Russia it would be easy to work out. After all it need to be launched and you can pin point the origin.

I would also argue that IS are trying to provoke a reaction from the west to help with their recruitment... They are going to need more than 30k people for he world domination they are apparently planning.
