If its Boris he must deliver what he promised.  I can see him being heckled over the famous 350m a week thing. Not convinced that he has the gravitas to pull the party together in the long term.

Gove and Hunt seem to me to be unpopular with the public due to previous posts. Grayling is just seen as an idiot. The rest are unknown.

Slim pickings..

Saw a mention or two about a second vote - if there is one it cannot ask the same, simple question. The big danger for remainers is that by now the public are simply bored of the whole thing and they either don't bother to vote or vote for whatever exit route is on the ballot to simply get it done.

A general election will only increase the distaste the general public currently have for politicians. It'll just be a messy (more so than usual) campaign period with lots of finger pointing and accusations and in the end no party will get a majority.

I am a little surprised that Rees-Mogg did not throw his hat in to the ring, may be he's biding his time..

I agree, all Brexiters are not united and some would prefer to remain than to go with "No Deal" and some would prefer to "No Deal" than to remain.

If we consider that Half the Conservative and Labour and Others would (begrudgingly) vote remain rather than leave on "No Deal" and total that with the staunch remain parties votes (SDP Greens Change UK).

Then total up the other half of Conservative, Labour and Others voters who would (begrudgingly) vote "No Deal" rather than remain, and add that with the committed "No Dealer" parties (Brexit Party UKIP) votes, then taking the last poll from before this election, guess what percentages vote to remain and what to "No Deal"? Answer in the spoiler below...

ps. I know the percentages add to 101% but I can only work with the figures provided by YouGov.48% Remain
53% Leave with "No Deal".
Remarkably familiar, no? LOL

Ermmm, because "Leaving" the EU is the declared stance of those parties at the time people went to the polling booths. See my post above for a considered breakdown of how staunch Labour and Conservative voters might vote in a 2nd ref. ps, don't click on the "spoiler" it might just spoil your weekend.

How many Brexiteers here voted for the Tory’s or Labour in the EU elections?

Was Mays deal “no deal”?
Is the Labour stance of full customs union “no deal”?

I think you have your own maths system.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter if the Brexit party get 101% MEP seats, it’s how the HoC vote that counts

Interesting that some of the lefties here prefer R Stewart.

Another Remainer that was just a puppet for Mrs May.

No chance him getting it (imo).

The Tories need a leaver in charge.  Otherwise there was little point in getting rid of May.

Plan A has failed. Time for Plan B.

I'm no lefty. Haven't voted Labour since 1997. Voted Leave in the referendum.

Yeah but you're another who can't see anything beyond Brexit.

The Tories will be voting for a PM that will be leading the country and dealing with a host of other issues going forward. As PM's do. Including healing the party. His job description isn't just a scrap of paper saying Leave the EU.

Stewart is a much better candidate for that job. As pretty much all the others are in fact!

Thanks for the detail, but that's a whole load of numbers speculation you're doing there!

Absolutely! It didn't take much time adding up the numbers and it did tickle me that the results, by my own (simplistic/spurious) method, tallied with the results of the initial ref, something I wasn't expecting at all, just a funny quirk of the method I employed. Of course, none of this is of any importance, only the true figures will matter in the end, (unless people start insisting on further votes because they didn't get the result they wanted)..... And on and on...

The Tories have to tackle Brexit first , to such  a degree that there is nothing beyond Brexit at this point in time . As such it can only be a leaver  PM , they / We can then kick whoever out after the job is done, just like Churchill .
