Ok, incompetence is a poor choice but I don't believe these people didn't act due to a fear of being branded racist. Maybe climbing up the career ladder was more important to them.

Of course climbing up the career ladder was important and even a sniff of racism and you would be thrown off.

Just ask any teacher what happens when they are accused of something. They could be asked to stay at home for months while the case is investigated. Eventually they may be cleared but that is little consolation. It will be on their record and career prospects are damaged.

Maybe they thought proving abuse with evidence from what they believed were "troubled or problem" girls against fine upstanding pillars of the community, would be too damn difficult.
Maybe the fact the police weren't acting allowed them to feel they didn't need to act.
There was the report of a girl found in a house with 5 Asian men whom she said had raped her. The police said in their report the sex was consensual, even though she was underage. Maybe things like that filter out and child services think why bother.
Who knows for certain? Hopefully a full inquiry will get to the bottom of it and appropriate heads roll.

There is a difference between stop and search and moving people on, as opposed to having thousands of pages of evidence that children were being raped, and deciding that not to arrest was the way to go because you might be called a racist.

The police has no problems arresting ethnic minorties for a multitude of crimes, with the result that muslims make up 12% of the prison population, 7% is asian, and blacks make up 15%.

So why is it that they were not afraid of being called racist for all these other crimes, but were in this case?  It seems to me that they are using this as their defence to try and dodge blame.  The racist card is almost certainly being used by criminals as a shield, but it can only really be effective when there is no or marginal evidence of a crime being commited.  That is clearly not true in this case.   There is bucketloads of evidence and has been for a long time.  That they did not intervene due to PC issues is arse covering plain and simple.

Go into any Child Social Service Team, the social workers you find  you will be lucky to find a parent agmonst them, well known for a quick path upwards, to upper management and then move into less volitile and demanding posistions. Burn out is high, it looks for and attracts newly qualified!

You can deny it all you want, it doesn't stop the world revolving and the truth being something different.

Fear of being labeled a racist has been sadly as much social stigma as being a pedophile itself, people will do anything to prove they aren't one, and if you are labeled your social status, your employment etc are all affected.  The race card shut people up for over a decade, it was the most successful method of repressing freedom of speech in democratic history.*
Simply because it would never happen to you because of your ethnicity, doesn't mean it isn't a very real, paralyzing fear that can ruin lives.  The truth is the fear of it by association is what makes it all the worse, "oh you can't say that, what will people think of the department, or me etc" and that's often for benign not racist comments that some people believe could be twisted to be seen as racist, if they really squint.

*There are actual racists out there, but in all honestly let them speak their mind, they will simply be unfurling the road from which they can hang themselves in the court of fair reasoned and sensible public opinion.

Yep when it comes to stop and search I can understand why they target the most prevent of demographic that is likely to cause crime, but the bigger question is does stop and search work?  It is like the police want to be seen to be doing something.

As for your last sentence, read the report, it is not just the police but the whole edifice of everyone that touched this vile business that shyied away because of 'cultural sensitivity'.  Further we have since heard reports of councilors and other members of the establishment directly intervening, it is a complex web and the whole lot needs to be cleared out.

Might result in recruiting an entire new social service, council and police force, if that's what it takes to stop this ONGOING issue.  For gods sake the men doing this are still out on the streets, why aren't they being tracked down and jailed?
