UK Govt Employee Sent to 'Diversity Training' for Calling Pakistani Rotherham Rapists 'Asian Men'

An image tweeted by Panorama’s Jane Bradley shows part of a legal document that claims that the researcher was told: “you must never refer to Asian men”.
“The other response [to raising the issue]”, they claimed, “was to book me on a 2 day ethnicity and diversity course to raise my awareness of ethnic issues”.

Its about time we dropped this silly Asian label. No harm in being specific. If it's a Pakistani problem then say so. Don't use this 'Asian' PC term because you are unwittingly taring Indians and other people who come under that umbrella in Britain.

Soon as I see or hear the words 'raise awareness' my immediate thought reaction is 'brainwashing'.

Compare and contrast with South Yorkshire police and David Crompton.

1,400 kids abused in Rotherham. No idea how many actual incidents per child. New victims still coming forward:

BBC News - Rotherham child abuse scandal:  New victims come forward

South Yorkshire Chief Constable David Crompton revealed the new cases as he gave evidence to a Commons committee.

However, he was unable to give direct answers about specific failures highlighted in Professor Alexis Jay's report, including why an 11-year-old victim was arrested and why an officer described the rape of a 12-year-old girl by several men as "entirely consensual".

Meanwhile one alleged incident and the police tipped off the BBC.

Police gave BBC an aerial photo of Sir Cliff Richard's home so its helicopter could find it - Telegraph

Police officers sent the BBC an aerial photograph of Sir Cliff Richard's home the night before the raid on the pop star's home, it has emerged.

The police supplied the photograph so that its helicopter could find it easily in Berkshire, the broadcaster told MPs.

The BBC’s account of its reporting of the raid on Sir Cliff's home will put further pressure on David Crompton, the chief constable of South Yorkshire Police, over his handling of the affair because it appears to be at odds with the force's version of events.

Misogyny however is culturally rife in the subcontinent, regardless of religion. Indian Police chiefs would fit in well with the Taleban or Saudis ... young urban girls socialising/drinking/clubbing are arrested for prostitution. Girls don't really have much of a say in their arranged marriages. Sons are preferred over daughters, perpetuated by the evil dowry system (leading to infanticide of baby girls and murders/suicides of new brides abused by their greedy in-laws).

It's fudgeing backwards, and I say that from personal family experience.

From what I have seen, most press coverage outside of the UK are referring to these "men" as Pakistani....

The reason for that is simple. Outside the BBC and UK, Asian means people from the far east. Ask anyone in America, Australia or any other country. Asian is not used to describe people from the Indian subcontinent. (even though geographically Asia is a big area!)

When I was in short trousers, if the Police said they were looking for two Asian men we would be looking for someone with a far eastern appearance.  I think this new term was introduced in the late 80's or 90's.

I really don't know why the BBC started this Asian label. Was it some form of Political Correctness in wanting to be vague? Are second generation Indians or Pakistanis more comfortable with that? I wouldn't think so.

Nothing PC about the Asian label, and the way it's used in the UK is insulting to all of non-subcontinent Asian heritage. BBC Asian Network doesn't cater for them, doesn't even cater for the whole of the subcontinent, only those of north Indian subcontinent origin.

Many Americans still refer to India/Indians as East India/Indians, quite odd that they still use such colonialisms which nobody here has for a century or two.
