Logic is my favourite,i used Cubase5 for about 1 year, and thanks to Duncfunk, after many weeks of whittling down what i needed, finally got the set up i needed/wanted!!
Cubase5 was deffo really good to use,but for me,a bit less forgiving, seemed quite"hard"to use sometimes, with logic,i feel its helping me,really weird.
It sounds like its easy,it is,but has the technical ability also, its right up there with the others.
and the synths are amazing, the drumachine,Ultrabeat,is very good, you can easily change every single paremeter on all the kits etc..
The synths are very capable, and are able to do what you need, and allow you to get what you need out of them quite easily....
It would be good to get a Logic trial.....

Thats well nice Alan, the drums sound well nice, really clear.,and i like the nice smooth tone on the guitar, nice and mellow and rounded, yet still present.,and the keyboard sounds proper "in the 60's"feel to it......like the sound in the films....
really nice pal.

Cheers.
The kick & snare drums were all played live on my keyboard using the ultrabeat drum program and then I tidied it up on the piano roll, added the cymbals, crash & cognas using ultrabeat as well. The keys are all from LogicPro9 and the guitar is my old Squire telecaster using one of Logics electric country guitar effects.
I'm not happy as the congas are too high in the mix and the bass I feel needs a tiny bit more presence. I'm not sure about the reverb I ran the whole tune through, but like I said it's a work in progress and I'll post the final version once done.

Thanks for your kind words.

the drums sound very real, the toms have that sound to them that takes away the synth drum edge.
The effects for guitars is awesome on logic,i think is pedalboard?i use it quite alot,i feel more at home using a real looking effects pedal type thing.
the amp creator,is good also.
I think it sounded alright, but its you that has to know when its ready!!cant wait to hear it,.sounds really clear.

Here's the finished version of Chilli Fries.

Chilli Fries by Alan Taylor 7 on SoundCloud - Hear the world

Slightly added to it and changed the mix.

hey, some really great tunes going on in this thread. I don't visit this AVF very much, let along this thread. I've bookmarked to listen more later at home.

I am a dabbling Guitarist and keyboard player, just home entertainment really. I've got a couple of Ibanez guitars, Tanglewood acoustic a Roland Juno Gi and bits and bobs. I use Reaper as my DAW....I find it does what I need, and I know it does so much more if I could be bothered to research

Here goes with a couple of mine

[ame=http://soundcloud.com/esc4p3/splendourous]Splendourous by esc4p3 on SoundCloud - Hear the world[/ame]  (first 'electonic' tune ever)

Hopefully your ears won't be too offended!

Nice track Alan, good groove

Can I suggest 2 things if you wanted to try them. Have a play with the velocities on the drum track especially the extra snare hits. At the minute they're all full force and drums sound nice if you bring down the velocity on fill hits. The other thing would be to have a play in the edit screen and loosen the timing as the quantize is fairly hard. Sounds good regardless but just a couple of little suggestions

Nothing offensive about those mate

A mixing tip on the rock track for you though. When using multiple guitar tracks they need separation in the mix. You'd generally pan 2 guitar parts fairly hard each side which would leave room in the centre for a third track. You also need to tweak the EQ so that they occupy diffrrent parts of the frequency spectrum. Try removing some low mids from the riff part and a bit of top to brighten it up.

Guess what I've done.
I only deleted all my files pertaining to that track!
Doh!
I Do that to free up space on my hd. What a muppet
I agree the drum track is a little too tight and the snares are a little aggressive.
I'll take your advice on my next track.
Cheers.
