New to the forum! Some really good stuff on here. I've just recently started getting into recording on my own. In the past it was always someone else doing it. I've been using Ableton Live Lite. Pretty much just doing some basic stuff with it. This first link is a tune I recorded with my iphone using the voice memo app that comes with it- it would be a pretty cool app if you could multitrack with it. This second link is a tune I recorded with Ableton:
Any thoughts?
Really like all the intricate movement within the chords, makes for some great harmony. Singing is top drawer too
Technical question for you, was the guitar DI'd into the sound card on the Ableton track? I've noticed that semi acoustics suffer from specific string noises that don't appear on mic'ed recordings.
Thanks! Yep- you nailed it- the acoustic is direct. Sometimes I kind of dig the string noise though- sometimes not so much. Going to try the mic approach next time.
Good tunes man, you've got a great voice. First link the reverb is noticable (maybe intention, kind reminds me of The Kooks), as you said it was recorded with an iphone, second tune sounds really clean & professional to my ears, great job.
Friend of mine just sent over a track of his band. He's the lead singer but he's actually the drummer in the band I play in, talented git. Really like the track myself.
