Just started "Made in America" by Bill Bryson again,
I read his Travel books when they came out and enjoyed them, but upon revisiting them recently I found them to be a bit boring, especially the Notes from a small Island England one - it seemed to be "And then I went to Milton Keynes, and stayed in a B B {paragraph of B B description} then I walked around the town centre, it looked similar to others I have visited - the next day I took a train to Cheltenham, and stayed in a B B... etc etc
His more factual stuff, like the American one, the "history of everything" one and the history of the British language "Mother Tongue" are well worth a read |
