I had the first three books for a couple of years and never bothered reading them until a couple of months ago and I've been engrossed by the story, so thought I would carry on reading about the Halo universe.

Just finished the first 4 George RR Martin "Song of Fire and Ice" books, which is an excellent series. Can't wait for the next one.

Have recently started Iain Banks' "Matter", great so far as are all of his Culture novels

Did this myself a while back, all great adventures, and much better to read in the right order rather than trying to do it in written order which makes no sense.

Got to agree that Cornwell can't really go wrong with his writing.

Yes, he's a talented author. I've read Sovereign and have Dissolution ready next.

If you like historical fiction, you'll probably also like the Crowner John series of books by Bernard Knight. A 'crowner' is what is now called a 'coroner' and his character is one of the first ones to be appointed. Bernard Knight was himself a pathologist and was involved in loads of murder cases (eg. Fred and Rosemary West).

Just started "Made in America" by Bill Bryson again,

I read his Travel books when they came out and enjoyed them, but upon revisiting them recently I found them to be a bit boring, especially the Notes from a small Island England one - it seemed to be "And then I went to Milton Keynes, and stayed in a B B {paragraph of B B description} then I walked around the town centre, it looked similar to others I have visited - the next day I took a train to Cheltenham, and stayed in a B B... etc etc

His more factual stuff, like the American one, the "history of everything" one and the history of the British language "Mother Tongue" are well worth a read

Re-reading Angels & Demons, and listening to HP & The Half Blood Prince on my iPod.
edit - not at the same time though, that would be far too confusing
