Me neither, but these are two of the best novels I've read in a long time.  For some reason Kite Runner had me blubbing - "For you, a thousand times over" - one of the best lines in any book.  And Thousand Splendid Suns was an equally - if somewhat harsher - read with a real lump-in-the-throat ending.   He's a seriously good writer.

Yeah, it didn't have the same feelings in it, it was too rushed I felt.

Finished A Thousand Splendid Suns, and it was a really touching book.
A must read

My God. Had to look back over this thread to see how long it took me to finish The Kite Runner.

Great first part of the book. Second part when the setting changes is when it gets boring. By the time we get the third act and redemption I just do not care. Yes, a nice emotional ending, indeed a fitting ending but I struggled to get over the finish line

Started The Audacity of Hope on the train today. Only read as much as a I could after reading my work documents first but already nearly at the end of the third chapter. Can already see myself reading it again. An engrossing read. might pick up the first book now

I really should be revising, but I'm confident I can tackle any question on german history.

But in preperaton for my course on South African history next year, deciding to read Nelson Mandela's autobiography.
