I was having a coffee at lunchtime and seen the rear of a mid sized SUV with really nice light styling - it really caught my eye. I had no idea what car it was but it looked like something from a premium brand - maybe a Lexus or something I guessed.

Once I left, I seen it parked up round the corner. Looked great from the side and even better from the front. I also seen the Peugeot badge. Once I seen the badge I thought that when I looked through the window, it was going to be a case of 'all fur coat, and no knickers' but no, the inside was really nice as well. It has a 12 inch TFT display in front of the wheel, along with another 8 inch screen above the dash - similar to the Audi TFT set up.

I read a couple of reviews and it has reviewed very well too. I might add, the pics online don't do the car any justice - you really need to see one in the flesh.

Anyone else seen one/considering buying one? Whats your thoughts?

I've a feeling we will see a lot of these on the road soon. I kind of like the VW tiguan but all the rest of the mid-size suv's from Nissan/Audi/BMW etc etc are all a bit 'meh' from a looks point of view (IMO!) whereas this Peugeot definitely stands out from the well packed crowd.

I hate the tiny steering wheel and raised instrument cluster in all Peugeots now, wheel in your lap or you can't read the instruments properly is a common complaint and one I've had when I've hired one. The lack of proper buttons and knobs for heating/ventilation and stereo controls also annoys me.

When I've seen one with a few miles on it I got the impression the quality interior looks nice from new but doesn't stand up that well to hard ownership. That of course may not be the case in all models. It is very stylish though.

Agree with this.

Having said that when I first saw I looked at it a few times thinking it was nice before being surprised it was a Peugeot

Yes, I too like having proper buttons for heating etc. I think land rover have done full touch screen on their new RR Valace too. Just seems an odd thing to put in touch screen controls for basic adjustments.

The new 3008 gives perfect visual on the tft screen, unlike the other cars which as you mention, the steering wheel obscures the view.

The worst car I ever owned was a Peugeot. Dashboard warning lights were like a fruit machine every time I started it

Apparently they are now ahead of most of the germans on the reliability surveys. I reckon they just remove all the warning lights now

It is great that there is choice and that there is something for everyone.  Personally I don't like it at all, but then again I'm sure there are those that don't like my choices.

I find it hilarious that there isn't even an 4wd option for it. Weedy little engines as well. I love this quote from Autoexpress.

I'm sure there is a 'me too' market for it, but I just don't get this segment.

My order is in and currently have a July delivery date.
Test drove loads of SUV's and the Peugeot was head and shoulders above them all. The amount of tech as standard is astonishing and it drove much better than the tiguan, kuga and alteca. The Nissan quashai doesn't interest me and the German equivalents were quite frankly boring and the interiors were so generic. The 1.2 turbo petrol engine was more than enough for urban driving. Most of the other SUV's were also 2wd unless you paid a premium for a awd so that argument is a little irrelevant also.

To you and your decision making process it may be irrelevant. To me it simply seems to have the comprises without the benefits. I honestly fail to see the point. However it is good that there is choice, be happy with what you order regardless of what others think.

I am extremely happy with my order thanks.
I'm unsure of the compromises you've mentioned as there weren't many i had to make when buying. In fact the only thing that surprised me was the lack of a cd player. Agree it is good there is choice otherwise we'd all be driving some boring generic vehicle....
