So disappointing - why remake a wonderful classic and then do it so badly?
Margaret Rutherford & Rex Harrison were always going to be tricky to follow but this attempt fails in every way.
Generally anything Dame Judi is in is wonderful - this failed to hit the mark & she was woefully underused. Isla Fisher is a great comic actress but was miscast in this as was Dan Stevens who was cringeworthy. Leslie Mann was probably the only good representation of Elvira (so brilliantly played by Kay Hammond in the 1945 original.
Ultimately when give the opportunity to work with a piece of Noel Coward perfection it shouldn't be dabbled with - this film was devoid of any sophistication and easy humour. Such a shame
