Good call. It will be interesting to see how you get on.

On the comparison site you posted the I do play CS GO a fair bit and looks like it's almost double the FPS compared to my current card

Also like the idea of having a seperate GPU so it doesn't run off my RAM like the current one

At a particular given price point and they both use the same type of cooler there is going to be very little if any noticeable difference between them.It comes down if you prefer a particular brand or even a colour scheme. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Yes Radeon, as I spent hours trying to fix the screen tear on linux and found a youtube tutorial on how to remove it for radeon gpus

And yeah i feel more comfy going with one which has the highest amount of positive reviews

We got there in the end thanks to you guys help so thanks, hopefully the install goes smoothly. Ive fitted GPUS before but never a big one.

Only slight concern is the gate which I have to snap off, but as you said pull it away from the Mobo and it'll be fine.

techquest Publish time 2-12-2019 03:00:14

Yes whatever you do make sure you pull, push or twist the gate, as you call it, away from MB otherwise you can scratch tracks and cause a disconnect in the circuits.

Done it, had to be very gentle else I could have bent part of it.

When re routing the cables last night I ended up scratching the outer protector of the wire ( not cut at all , just a superficial scratch, I hope it doesn't affect it...
The cable itself is intact

ChuckMountain Publish time 2-12-2019 03:00:15

No it's the a heatshrink to keep the end of the cable braid tidy.So long as it has not damaged the underlying cables it will be fine.It does not look like it from that photo.
If it had and it only nicked a cable some insulating tape would normally do the trick to prevent any shorting.

Well i've not tried CS GO yet, but as it's external I now have more RAM.

Will report back later after some gaming.
