Yes the plug will only go in one way, on the PSU and the GPU, they're keyed.

ChuckMountain Publish time 2-12-2019 02:59:41

Usually yes there should be two cables accordingTo the specs of your psu.Either or both can be plugged in as required by the gpu.Make sure you don’t exceed the total power of the system by using an online calculator

Questions are no issue, that's what forums are for and if you don't ask you might end up paying the ultimate price.

ChuckMountain Publish time 2-12-2019 02:59:43

That last one is quite an interesting choice, out of interest why do you do that?

Venomx999 Publish time 2-12-2019 02:59:43

I'm guessing its harder for snoopers to intercept your data if it's wired and not wireless ?

ChuckMountain Publish time 2-12-2019 02:59:44

Yes technically but whether that data is in a meaningful format is a different matter. If I am able to compromise your WiFi network then chances areI am then probably also on your router in which case your wired traffic is also mine data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Having said that I then need to break the encryption on the https stream too in either case.

techquest Publish time 2-12-2019 02:59:44

Only if you employ the right precautions.

Open/unsecured wireless allows traffic to flow in plain text and can easily be "sniffed" or captured without the user's knowledge or permission. But computers can be hacked on wired connections too, especially if user security or practices are poor.

In any event a criminal wanting your information these days has no end of opportunities to carry out their trade craft. Me I just employ everything I can to thwart such attempts. Don't loose sleep over it, just be wise.

ChuckMountain Publish time 2-12-2019 02:59:45

Yes agreed but if the underlying traffic is encrypted via HTTPS or VPN then the traffic is still reasonably secure (more so than the WiFi encryption anyway). The latter is what various AV vendors offer when you are out and about and connect to the Free WiFi.....

techquest Publish time 2-12-2019 02:59:46

Yes we both know that but most user would be unaware of the fact. In this case @Venomx999 freely admits he is a relative newbie in this field so any help/advice he gets on here helps him to get a better understanding and will hopefully help him to steer clear of any pitfalls, before rather than after the event.
