I will have a check for you later, though in game mode the black levels are lighter as local dimming isn't as effective in this mode.

Just checked with TDKR blu ray using Game scene and I can confirm it played 1080p/24

Thanks for the test. I'll try it out with my PS3 tonight. Turned on the LED something and the clouding in corners has decreased.

No worries.

It's strange, LED dynamic control is far more effective in cinema or standard scene than it is in game scene, it just doesn't dim as much.

Possibly to cut down on input lag.

Yeah I saw it didn't make that much of a difference in Game but at least the really white bright LED's in the bottom corner aren't annoying on black screens anymore.

TV doesn't auto change the scene from Game to Cinema or General for me data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Got a PS3 plugged into HDMI port with scene as Game, put in The Bourne Identity blu ray and the judder was clearly visible due to no 24p in Game. Manually had to change the scene to General where 24p is available and the motion was smooth, just how a blu ray should be.

Sound isn't too bad from the speaker stand either but on games, it's so tinny and sucky!

I had to read this several times to make sure I understood you correctly. I initially thought you were thinking that the blanking happened with the Humax but I see what you mean now.

But...having resorted to restoring the set to its factory settings, the problem seems to have gone away. It's not all been plain sailing though as I'm sure the Sony menus appear slower and are a bit jerky when moving across the screen. I'll keep my eye on things and will come back if the blanking problem returns.

On a seperate note, is anyone else noticing sound distortion from the speaker plinth even at low volumes (say level 14)? The distortion is like a resonance at certain speech frequencies and creates a rasping sound. I'm going to connect it to a signal generator and find out at what frequencies this occurs. I guess I'll end up taking the plinth apart and isolating the drivers from the case.

Why not just ditch the plinth ( Unplug it ), the TV Speakers sounded better to my ears?

iiyama17 Publish time 1-12-2019 22:42:48

That might be something to do with your ears. The sound from the plinth is generally far richer sounding than the tv speakers though I'll be the first to admit it is by no means anywhere near as impressive as many reviews have implied.
