What was wrong with the PS51D6900 vipergrm?

I know exactly what you are saying.Mine is absolutely fine. This is something I would be particularly fussy about.I have no grey haze coming from the corners. The only problem I see is a slight loss of black level on the left but this is due to my off center seating position. If I sit in the middle the screen looks perfectly fine.

The mounting holes on the TV were damaged (2 were loose and 1 had no thread at all) I was forced to return it to JL and they aren't stocking them anymore.I went for the WL863 because of the amazing deal through Amazon Warehouse plus the fact that I know that I can return it without any hassle at all.I'm glad I did because the TV was in perfect condition.

I have nothing against the D6900.It was great when I had it.I actually had two of them. The first one had around 10 dead pixels with awful buzzing. The second one was spot on EXCEPT for the mounting hole issue. If you do decide to change to the D6900 then DO NOT upgrade the firmware beyond 1016.I stupidly upgraded mine from 1016 to 1019 and this resulted in a loss of black level and contrast.

I bought a PS51D6900 from amazon warehouse and it arrived with the screen smashed so I am a little hesitant to buy one now because I would be uber ****** off if it cracked. However as usual Amazon handled it excellently... All customer service should be as good as Amazon. It is also very heavy and large and uses a lot of electricity lol.

That's a shame.I remember reading about your misfortune over on the PS51D6900 forum. That's a great point actually. The WL863 uses less siginificantly less electricity than the D6900 and it is 4 inches bigger!Seems baffling that WL863 has muxh higher brightness and better blacks but but it does.

Hello guys,
found this owner's thread a bit late data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
I'm the one that debated about panel's production on the review thread.
I'm a (quite happy) owner of a 46WL863, ask me for info on specific arguments if you want my 2 cents data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I lately updated the firmware but as far as I've seen there's no official changelog available... Does anyone know what has been modified with the last FW?
Thanks data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I've not been able to find details about this either.I updated my firmware and I think the date was 21st Feb 2012.Apparently the latest firmware is supposed to address the lack of red and also improve 3D SBS performance. That is only what I have read in other forums.

Nicholars Publish time 1-12-2019 22:37:32

I doubt it will change the red issuses because they are a limitation of the panel itself not the firmware

could you elaborate on the (quite happy) bit please, as i am really interestedin the 46 yl 863 i was hoping for a more positive view data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

That's what I thought. This doesn't at all bother me though. As far as I can tell the red is fine. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
