Nope you were correct - I was on verge of sending back - but the more I use them - the more I like it.
Good concept - almost there for me - just need one that functions 100 percent.

Yeah, I'm thinking of getting a Ring Pro for the front door, with a chime or two. And the camera and solar panel for the back garden.

Camera and Solar Panel have been awesome - work very very well and always at 90-100 percent charge.
Had numerous problems with doorbells - the latest is the audio breaks up - not only when i try and speak to somebody - but also when they speak back to me.
Sounds like Norman Collier ;-)
Spent hours on phone to RING troubleshooting and they have despatched another........I really want this one to be ok.
We have Digital Window displays for Halloween in our front window and its great fun watching the peoples reactions to the projected window display through the doorbell when they activate the motion sensor........will also be fun speaking to trick or treaters a bit nearer the time ;-)

I people my Ring Pro arrived today and I plugged it into my existing bell unit and it appeared to work but kept cutting out.So I took the bell out of the Equation and used the power pack without the bell and it still cuts out.
Can someone send me a picture of their Pro setup so I can confirm if mine is correct ive probably done it wrong somewhere.

UK bells are only 8v and the ring pro wants more I think,I bought a transformer from amazon (it's in this thread a few pages back can't remember what it was called) and just used it and mines been rock solid

Did you need the little red power cable or use the white power back in the line or did you directly connect it to the transformer with no additional power cables in line?

If you have a look at post 25in the thread here there's a wee diagram with the pro power kit fitted directly to a transformer, mines like that only it's the wee bit that looks like a fuse,I'd go and take a photo for you but it's in my roofspace!

Thinking of buying a Ring Pro myself. What is that Pro Power Kit? Is it just a fuse or is there something more inside? If just a fuse, what's the rating?

Received the standard Ring Doorbell yesterday and fitted last night, first impressions, very impressed, although am still finding my way around it and do have some minor quibbles.
I ended up fitting it to the middle of the door, it covered my existing peephole. Was in two minds about doing this but thought it would provide the best view or person stood in fron of the door. When watching the promo vids, the bell was always placed to the side, but when you then saw the video, the person always looked like they were stood right in front. Also satisfies my OCD as the porch, path and gate are central!!
Small gribes that could either be fixed or I could live with...
Having to press the button on the doorbell to save changes made to motion detection. Why?Ok, so Im on day one, and getting some false triggers of cars passing int he round, despite thinking I had the motion range fairly limited.Cant save any changes til I get home!Device should come with a remote finger to press it.
I thought disabling ring alerts and motion alerts would essentially disable the device, but it does just disable the alerting.I may prefer to disable either or both during certain periods or use ifttt to fine tune how the system works.
I know to view the wide angle, a fish eye lens is used, which results in a slightly distorted image.. but surely software could used to flatten out the image so I dont see it as a peephole. In fact, looking on the ring.com site, all of the demo's are full screen on the phone, but still have the circular distortion, but mine is like Im still looking though a peephole.
Im really skeptical about the suggested battery life, which I know will vary greatly.. but even 6 months is a bold claim, let alone 12!I will probably look at hooking it up to a transformer, although I wish I could just plug an adapter straight in.
I have a LifX porch light, and using this with the Ring is causing the images to be whitewashed as the night vision is quite sensitive.I am going to test turning the light down, but I would prefer to also have some control over the sensitivity of the night vision if possible.
I did get a £25 discount from a Facebook page I found, so that paid for the chime!!Was hoping to be able to change the chimes, pity doesn't support mp3/wav files.Ive not plugged it in yet, but saw no mention of the like.

Ive just received an alert and when I viewed it, saw the postman waking away from the house! So, opening the gate, walking up a 10ft path, standing in front of the door.. didn't trigger anything!Yet a car passing on the road 20ft away triggers the device!Any suggestions?
