There is no reason why SMS can't make the best physics a racing game has seen. There is no technical limitation. It is all just code.

The great thing about the way pCARS is being developed is that it is a lot more than just words. Members can test the new tyre model months before release and can give feedback during development.

I don't know, I'm still scarred by Shift 2 so I will always be a little cautious when people talk about genre-leading tyre models and the like in relation to SMS. I realise they are no longer under the shackles and time constraints of EA, but I'd be surprised if the handling model surpasses what ISI are doing with rFactor 2.

Happy to be proved wrong of course.

It's also going to be interesting to see how this game scales down to the consoles and whether it's purely the graphics that will take the hit and not the handling/tyre model.

pCARS is a completely different game to Shift 2. Like chalk and cheese.

The consoles will have an updated version of the current tyre model as they don't have the chops to process the new tyre model.

I'll wait for the free demo to try for myself. Many of the videos I've seen and opinions I've read suggest it still has a Shift feel to it.

You should get your self a Junior account for 10 euros. You won't be disappointed.

Not saying that they can't do, but I'll wait until I play a tyre model and physics model which is the best out there before I give them the credit.I guess I've just heard it too many times in the past.I tend to look at things as they are now and base my views on that.If pCARS becomes better than say rfactor 2 then great, but call me old fashioned, but I will wait for it to happen first.

Fair enough. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to find out! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

My intuition tells me to wait on this one. Like I said before, the lack of modding may make pCARS a non-starter for me. Something I do really like about this game is the track selection. Miles better than anything else, but then again that was the selling point of Shift 2 for me.

If SMS can make the best physics a racing game has seen from there tweaked Madness engine originally developed for the console market and Shift games I'll be very surprised. In my opinion there are sims from almost 15 years ago that have more convincing vehicle physics than where we currently are with pCARS, which still whiffs of Shift at times when at the wheel.

Still plenty of time to improve things in the right direction, but class leading physics I don't think so, but would love to be proved wrong so those great graphics can be enjoyed for years to come.

Well we will have to wait and see in regard to the physics.
