Does it affect handling though? cools down the tyres? dry lines?

pigginbacon Publish time 27-11-2019 05:28:42

Yes. Reduced grip is already implemented.

I am not sure about tyre temperature but tyre temperature is already implemented and can be seen in the telemetry overlay.

Dry lines are not implemented yet but the devs have said they definitely will be.

Looks stunning.

Hopefully they can accomodate the affects the wet will have.

It is a lovely looking game i admit that.

Looks great, if only it drove as well as it looks, new tyre mod and physics cannot come soon enough for me.

pigginbacon Publish time 27-11-2019 05:28:43

Yeah I can't wait for the new tyre model too. The devs are close to releasing it for senior managers. It will make a good game even better.

A couple of weeks ago there was also a big update to the FFB which seems to have went down very well with the members.

Despite the WIP physics many people are already playing pCARS as if it were a finished game which is a positive reflection of the development I think. There is no career path or multiplayer yet but people are splitting into groups and having hot lap battles. You can now race against other people's ghosts as well as the AI. There is also now a random event button that randomises the track, weather pattern, time of day etc. Don't use it in a car without lights unless you check the time of day first!

Many people spends hours a week playing pCARS, every week. Don't think that it is not enjoyable yet because it is in development. It's great fun already and will get better and better as known issues are fixed and features and content are added.

This is not an advertisement - just a message from one of a heap of people who have got to love this game already.

I think that this game is looking good for what it is.Whilst I'm sure the physics will improve over time, I just don't see it satisfying the true sim racer in the way that say rFactor 2 or maybe AC (although reports are that they are also aiming more mainstream now) will.

To be fair, the hardcore sim racer is a relatively niche market and you can't blame developers for looking to make the game appeal to a wide audience, but games like Forza, Shift, GT, pCARS etc. will by their nature fall short in sim terms against games like rf2.The devs will be keen to stress that they can compete on that level and whilst they may have a good stab at it, the all rounder will never be able to fully compete with the dedicated sim.

This isn't really a criticism of pCARS as to be honest the majority of folk will probably prefer it to rF2 due to the eye candy, the more forgiving physics etc. but for those who want that ultra realism I don't see it being a major contender to rF2.

It's good to hear of the developments though and the game is looking lovely. If I'm honest then I've not played many video games of late but will have to try out the new rain effects once they are implemented.

if pcars is beter then gt5/forza and basically is the forza for pc then i will be happy tbh. i love hardcore sims just as much as the next man but i also do enjoy forza kind of games
