I think that this game is looking good for what it is. Whilst I'm sure the physics will improve over time, I just don't see it satisfying the true sim racer in the way that say rFactor 2 or maybe AC (although reports are that they are also aiming more mainstream now) will.
To be fair, the hardcore sim racer is a relatively niche market and you can't blame developers for looking to make the game appeal to a wide audience, but games like Forza, Shift, GT, pCARS etc. will by their nature fall short in sim terms against games like rf2. The devs will be keen to stress that they can compete on that level and whilst they may have a good stab at it, the all rounder will never be able to fully compete with the dedicated sim.
This isn't really a criticism of pCARS as to be honest the majority of folk will probably prefer it to rF2 due to the eye candy, the more forgiving physics etc. but for those who want that ultra realism I don't see it being a major contender to rF2.
It's good to hear of the developments though and the game is looking lovely. If I'm honest then I've not played many video games of late but will have to try out the new rain effects once they are implemented. |
