Oh well,each to their own i suppose.I had a roast today and it was by far the best meal of the week.Far from bland.
of course they could, I'd never have a roast out as it's generally over cooked and left for ages before you get to eat it.
There is nothing bland about a well cooked roast dinner there is a huge variety of tastes and textures.
Fluffy roast potatoes with a crispy crust cooked in duck fat with garlic, rosemary and salt. If thats bland to you then you are going to have a problem with the food of many countries.
Then you have that with a nice peice of dry aged mid rare well rested melt in your mouth beef with a dark caramelized crust with plenty of salt, pepper and herbs.
Some nice flavoured sausages from the butcher wrapped in the butchers smokey streaky bacon, cooked a little past the point you think is right so the bacon is nice and crispy and the colour adds flavour too.
Some roasted carrots and parsnips with a a shallot and herb butter.
Some homemade yorkshire puddings and a well made flavoursome gravy.
Such a huge variety of tastes and textures, if you also have a problem with french food then I guess it's just your taste buds are different to the rest of the world and thats fine we are all different, but if you like french food then the only explanation is the roasts you've had have been bad, considering the amount of times you've posted about this it's clear you arn't particularly open to changing your mind and it's a view much stronger than is sensible for something you find a bit meh.
but back on topic I love a good curry even though I suppose our curry is perhaps British cuisine rather than foreign food.
We have an indian restaurant down the road from us that is meant to be very traditional indian food. Apparently they don't do the whole masala, tandoori, korma etc etc
We should really go there one day.
There is a good place on great portland street called Iberica. Very very VERY good in there. Quite authentic too according to the Spaniards I've been with.

There used to be an allegedly very authentic Indian in Aberdeen.
It seemed to be people were going once, then reverting back to their normal curry house.
I've never seen authenticity as hugely important, and authenticity evidently doesn't mean success.
Maybe just the wrong place for authenticity, we don't have a large Asian community up here at all.
I always feel very dissapointed by GBK. I always go there with the hopes of having an epic burger and am always let down, I don't think I've ever gone there and had a roll that has not been bone dry and the meat is adequate at best.
I find Ultimate Burger to be the better option. I need to try this Byron burger though.
Having said that, the best burger I ever has was on a ship 2000km off the coast of Morocco!

The small town we'd been living in this year averaged 2.5 per tapa and 1 a beer. Happy days.
My wife and I were going to take a day trip to Seville on our Honeymoon. We were about 40mins away at the time but for some reason we got sidetracked. Its top of my list of Spanish cities to visit. Perhaps we will spend a weekend there sometime.
