My local organic butcher stopped selling organic as nobody bought it. They make their own sausages which are lovely, but they also sell some they buy in. Their beef is a cut above more expensive - rump for sirloin prices etc.

The perception is that it is better, but I'm having doubts that it is not just wishful thinking.

All these people who say "We spend lots but we eat lots of fresh fruit..." do you buy it pre-packed or loose?

It amazes me how much you save when you buy it loose. Bananas are almost half price!

You can but it takes around 10 minutes still. If you precook a load first and freeze it in batches it will just take 2/3 minutes to heat back up.

We don't walk around the supermarket counting the pennies, we put whatever we want in the trolley and have never spent more than £160. That's only once per month, the rest of the month it's £50/£60 per week.

£30 on fish for one meal, wow....what fish is it?

Scollops/squid/ mussels for starters, Monk fish, turbot, skate for mains. Sometimes buy some decent anchovies and smoked salmon pate.

Not in mine.Purely "supermarket" food spending.

Vegetables we buy mostly loose. Fruits, depends. Stuff like apples, grapefruits, oranges, watermelon, bananas usually loose. Stuff like blueberries, strawberries, gooseberries, grapes, clementines usually pre-packed.

My son is addicted to grapes and bananas (or as he calls them nana's).
