Water is my key for the occassional hunger I feel but not really feeling hunger until just before I go to bed when I would normally have some supper.

Water isn't enough for me unfortunately.

I'm finding that I just can't concentrate properly and think straight without eating something, so I had to eat a banana at 2pm.

And I had breakfast too at 8am - a bowl of bran flakes and one piece of toast.

Not sure how many calories that is in total.

I use Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal | MyFitnessPal.com to keep an eye on calories. It's very user-friendly. Also, they have iPhone & iPad apps that sync to the website - really neat.

Is doing the adf actually healthy? Binge, 500 cals, ect ect rinse and repeat?

On my 'non-fasting' days I've been eating normally, not binge eating.

After a week of doing this I've found it's not possible for me to get through a whole day without eating. But I have reduced my overall calorie intake by cutting out morning/afternoon snacks, substituting bread with fruit/yoghurt/nuts, and skipping the evening meal.

Even after a short space of time I've lost about 3kg, and my BMI is bang in the middle of the ideal range.

Hi guys. I just started the 5-2 diet.

How many calories should be eaten on the fasting days if any?

On my first attempt of 2 day fasting i broke on the 2nd even. Ill do better next week though. I wasnt sure what to expect to begin with.

BT Bob Publish time 26-11-2019 05:26:47

I aim for sub-600. This week (Tuesday & Wednesday) I did 630 and 580, so just over the combined total. I don't stress over these though - as long as I'm in that ball-park I'm happy.

Wow, those sound like very accurate calorie measurements! How do you do it?

I am sure it doesn't matter that much as long you aim to be within the 500-700 range (for chaps), and 400-600 range (for the ladies). The main aim is to reduce your calorie intake by about 20% in a week. But the fact that you do it on two days (rather than spread it across the week) is the critical thing. Otherwise it's a diet, and not fasting.

Should those calories be protein only?
