Just attempted my first sourdough. Think it had too much flour on it when I put it in the oven and the bottom dried and cracked a bit but doesn't look too bad.                                                                        https://www.avforums.com/attachments/15571351726382080240437905185220-jpg.1147688/

I have been very naughty and neglected the starter. Got very busy around the place and took my eye off the ball. Start again tomorrow.

Nice start mate I’m sure it tasted beautiful, been away a week so neglected my starter fed yesterday so bread soon!

Unfortunately my starter wasn't very active so it came out really dense. Going to try a few non-sourdough breads and then re-do the starter.

The recipe I looked at used strong white flour but I've looked around and it seems rye flour is better for a starter. I think I need to do some experimenting.

Had to hold off for a short while. Been away a few times and wanted a clear few weeks to look after it as a starting starter, kept knocking it back. Should be on the go today.

Going for two heaped strong white and two heaped stone ground rye to kick off. Then feed with strong white. Is what I have been doing, anything in that needs amending before I start?

Earlier in this thread is the link to the one I used, just white with some orange or pineapple juice to ward off nasties, it’s still, going strong and I regularly give pots away and they are all alive.

Cheers, will look back. Also got to get some sauerkraut on the go and more kimchi. Probably knock that up on the weekend.
