They're totally different hash browns have onion and potato, waffles just potato. I love a waffle. Aldi waffles are okay in fairness!

Easy to make - grated potato and grated onion.
Though a quick search shows that a lot of hash brown recipes don't use onion. Hmm. We've always had ours with onion in them and they are great! Just potato through a ricer is what McDonalds do by all accounts. Not terrible, but definitely not the very best!
