I think I'm pretty consistent in the treatment of peoples words. Like when Corbyn apologies or labour fully adopts the IHRA that is good enough to me as well. Don't see the point in holding up any party involved to different standards.

I think that’s for a different thread, but the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism is already in place for Labour. The issue, as far as I understand it, is that they’ve re-worded some of the working examples, specifically those relating to the State of Israel, and they suggest that people can be critical of the actions of the state without being called anti-Semitic.Clearly that’s not acceptable to some groups of people, but I still don’t see how it’s anti-Semitic to criticise a State (not a religion)?

However, someone apologising is just words. If Corbyn is an anti-Semite and his party is rife with the same, what good do words do and why is it enough to just say what people want to hear?

When you make laws or rules it is really important to have the correct words.

Isn’t the IHRA document a “definition” and neither a rule nor a law though?

It is indeed. It gets tested against the words, as does the CPS ultimately.

Thousands protest contentious Israel nation law in Tel Aviv

TEL AVIV, Israel –Thousands of members of Israel's Druze minority and their Jewish supporters packed a central Tel Aviv square Saturday night to rally against a contentious new law that critics say sidelines Israel's non-Jewish citizens.

It marked the first time in recent memory that the Druze community, typically fiercely loyal to the state, staged a large public protest.

I know it's Fox but it's out there.

This bill is not going down well anywhere it seems.

Hmm it leaves me conflicted as ever with the on going Antisemitism within the UK Labour party and the democratic nation state of Isreal treating the minority in such a way . We seem to be focusing on one whilst forgiving the other . Leaves a bad taste to me on all fronts but many seem to be able to swallow one over another . Well in the West anyway .

Genuine question, is this purely about the official language? As that is the only point I can see that this bill introduced.
