I suspect that Nabby was infering the often lack of tempering ones bravado, patriotism, but especially feelings and expressions of nationalistic superiority with a rational, realistic and balanced view of our own history before condemning others.
Nothing wrong with critiquing another nations policies, actions, culture or beliefs, as long as it is done from a position of acceptance of ones own nations flaws.
That is something some people can't or don't want to accept and appear unable to let it slide.

Agreed, but the point is that one is in the here and now and the other is a historic one. Just because we've been bad 100s of years ago doesn't mean we shouldn't critique someone who is bad today...
