Thanks, I have to agree with you and you're quite right to bring it to my attention - I was focused on Israel's past successes concerning African Jews and not on current affairs.
The fairly recent rise of the right, and in some cases the extreme right, has clouded their politics and the link in your post highlights that point.
Some elements in the Israeli government now match the extreme views in some Arab governments. Organised religion strikes again and drags everything down.
(dis)honourable mention to Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, Yitzhak Yosef, a well known racist fudge.
And there have been times when Britain could have been a lot better.
