Well as I said earlier if yesterdays speech gets no traction in talks we may as well forget it, move on and go for hard brexit.

As to those remainers if you end up getting what you want you will have a future under the EU jackboot for the rest of your lives and it won't be a pleasant experience, all I can say you are welcome to it.

Thankfully at my age I shall only have to put up with it for a few years.

My origins trace back to Wales, France, Romania and Poland. I am European but was actually born outside Europe according to some checks.

I definitely class myself as European, and I love all the diversity in Europe. I hate seeing that getting lost.

Why bother then?

what always puzzled me was why no other EU nation so keen to leave.Yes of course amongst their respective populations there are some who wish to do so, but on the whole they seem very pragmatic and realise the very basic principles of the EU are sound and have done much to promote stability, encourage growth through trade, cooperate as and where necessary, spread wealth to the poorer nations and through doing that, prevent conflicts.I have never bought the NATO argument as that is just about deterrence through the threat of force. Then it occurred to me that the so called Hard Brexiters are fired by an ideology which would see this country turn into a small state, low tax, low regulation economy, in fact, become a large tax haven for billionaires.A sort of Singapore of Europe reliant on services to create its wealth(although the Government in that country is very involved in the planning of its economy and owns almost 97% of the property).
I also wondered why those same Brexiters were so keen on leaving without a deal.Could it be the fact the EU has a proposal which would in effect close down all existing tax havens by forcing accountants to reveal any complex tax avoidance measures which they use for their multimillionaire clients? If passed that will kick in 2019. It would appear to make sense. Of course, they would not admit that instead, we get the same endlessly tiresome stream of platitudes about "golden opportunities, taking back control, there is a big wide world out there" etc. Somehow I don't believe that applies to us all, rather the small elite of beneficiaries who scent opportunities to enrich themselves. For the rest, it probably means a life on low wages and /or long hours, poor working conditions, no holiday entitlement and none of the benefits guaranteed by continuing membership of the EU. Of course, the lemmings who slavishly follow the Brexit line never once bother to question their motives. They are being manipulated and cant see it

Change of mood? - its only a couple of months since the General Election where over 85% of the electorate voted for parties advocating a hard Brexit and the party that advocated staying in the EU lost support.

Looks you and the Indy are dreaming

Singapore is prosperous, low crime, excellent health services, etc.

Not sure what would be so wrong with being like them.

Not that any political party is pushing any such agenda to do so of course.

German elections today lads. I think Merkel is going to be our girl again which i'd rather not it be but better than the Schultz who could make our exit from the EU worse.
