Don't tell anyone, but I was very late to George Martins books, having read the first two to date, and only in the last six months or so.

As for signed first editions, yes, I think they are worth more, and most eBay transactions seem to agree.

Hardback firsts also always increase in value anyway - although special editions that come out far later than the original I doubt do as well, but I have nothing to back this up as I don't recall any of my authors having a book released later as a hardback.

Ooo, tell a lie, Waylander by David Gemmell 25th anniversary edition, sadly in French and released in France and I found out too late to try and find one. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Well, finished ADOD.Very much AFFC's other half, as Martin indicated.

Good character development, and especially loved the chapters with .Favourite character in the entire series.

Frightening to think i'll probably be in my forties before i read the next in the series.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7Arya

So do you think it's worth buying these slipcase versions?

Yes, Dragons runs alongside Crows but also beyond it, if that makes sense! So you get Crows characters and their viewpoints turning up again.

Started reading this series since I got my Kindle. Here's my take so far. I've used spoiler tags just in case.

A Game of Thrones - For an opening book it's really good. And does a good job of introducing the characters from the outset I love the Tyrion Lannister character. And you really get a sense of Ned and his honour. And you .

A Clash of Kings - Probably the weakest for me so far. Not much happens compared to the first and third books. It more serves as a piece to setup the third book. Again Tyrion Lannister shines for me in this book. I really look forward to reading chapters from his POV. Same goes for Arya . It gets really interesting towards the end . Some of the chapters are quite hard and boring to read. Especially the ones from the POV of . Those are a real chore to read. I'd soon read fromPOV.

A Storm of Swords - My favourite so far. I get to read POV from some much more interesting characters.was a pleasure to read. I'd hope to read some from Tywin's POV as well. I do hope that . That would feel out of place. And of course we the . I couldn't believe what I was reading.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Not sure how I feel abouteither. That seems out of place. I wonder if ? That would be an interesting turn of events. Not really sure how I feel about the Queen of the Dragons. Seems to make some stupid decisions and at times it irritating to read. It was nice to see , certainly didn't expect that. And of course we have . Didn't see that coming at all. Glad to seedead though. He was a right ****.

Taking a wee break before I start reading A Feast for Crows.feel for him when it all goes horrible wrong
