No surprise there.I don't think he will ever finish these imho, and I thought that before the first season of the TV series was ever announced; I get the feeling he thinks the books success have become a chain and ball around his neck.

I'm not really surprised either, it must be difficult thinking up new and different ways to describe banquets and coats of arms. If he repeated himself the nerds would hound him incessantly!
For me he fell into the Robert Jordan trap of padding his books out with endless descriptions of things that don't matter at the expense of moving the story along.
I absolutely loved the first book, but what followed got worse as it went on. The TV series is far more sensibly plotted
