You have still got the Dunc and Egg novellas to go though, right? They are also a really good read and further enrich the universe that had been built.

No surprise there.  I don't think he will ever finish these imho, and I thought that before the first season of the TV series was ever announced; I get the feeling he thinks the books success have become a chain and ball around his neck.

I'm not really surprised either, it must be difficult thinking up new and different ways to describe banquets and coats of arms. If he repeated himself the nerds would hound him incessantly!

For me he fell into the Robert Jordan trap of padding his books out with endless descriptions of things that don't matter at the expense of moving the story along.

I absolutely loved the first book, but what followed got worse as it went on. The TV series is far more sensibly plotted

'The Winds of Winter' Release Date & Major Spoilers: Sixth 'ASOIAF' Book Still NOT Happening Next Year? GRRM Busy With Other Project?

"The Winds of Winter" is expected to arrive in 2017 but one should still take this report with a grain of salt. It is best to wait for George RR Martin's announcement to spare yourself from another disappointment concerning the book's release date.
