No brainer, I have a 7 day pass and I am only going to Tokyo then Kyoto return.

You sure the train from Narita to Shinjuku is 50 quid? I see it for 3020 yen.

I was looking at a return fare on the Narita express , was that what you were looking at ?

Japan Rail is a dream. It's comfortable, runs like clockwork, and is easy to navigate.

IIRC, you have to go and get your JR pass validated at a station before you start travelling on it. I went 18 months ago, and I used my pass to travel on the shinkansen, but it's not valid on the Nozomi class of bullet train.

Was there just over 2 weeks. Went to Tokyo, Kyoto and Shin-Osaka, Nagano, Kibi Plains, Hiroshima, Matsumoto, and a couple of other places whose names escape me at the moment.

Itching to go back. Have a great trip, lads!

And while it was before the pound crumbled, it wasn't actually very expensive. Tokyo was cheaper than London, certainly.

Best holiday of my life. No question.

Cheers for that, been doing some digging about for prices , comparing stuff like KFC , McDonald's etc , there is little difference in the price we pay , taxis seem expensive though !! , Beer appears to be about the same price as any city , plenty of time to save money , we don't go until the beginning of June 18 , and I cannot wait !!!

Edit - what was Hiroshima like ?

Its probably cheaper than London tbh, if you want some recommendations of some of the food places I went to i'll get a list sorted for you.

Saw it at the station last night, special for foreigners 4000 yen return Narita - Tokyo. No use if your getting the JRP though.
