I've said it before and I'll say it again. Come and drive around Slough in rush hour and slow drivers will be the least of your worries!! Roundabouts are the biggest danger, with seemingly few people able to work out that if you're in the outside lane, you should be going round the roundabout rather than taking the first exit. It literally scares the living daylights out of me on a daily basis, but keep you sharp I suppose!

I followed a guy the other day in a beaten up Rover through 30, 40, 50 and National Speed Limit zones and he sat at 35 through all of them and I had no chance of overtaking safely. When I finally pulled alongside him on some dual carriageway, he looked like he was holding on for dear life and hadn't blinked in quite some time... scary stuff.

Milton Keynes is absolutely terrible! Probably because it has a lot of roundabouts it seems like drivers simply can't be bothered to use indicators, and the ones that do usually indicate right and leave that indicator on as they take the exit, leaving you still sat waiting to get onto the roundabout data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

My real pet hate is traffic on national speed limit roads though - there is one I drive down every day, and on at least 7 out of 10 days the car(s) in front is driving at 50mph. This is at 5am on near empty roads btw! It's not a case of slow drivers, it's complete ignorance of the speed limits data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

The speed limit is a maximum, there is no law that says you have to drive at that speed just that you cannot exceed it.

You'd think someone who drives '1300miles a week mostly on A roads' would know what this sign means?

Rami Tupper obviously doesn't.

I thought he was saying that these lorries were obviously overloaded and that's why they were strugglingdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Andy Leitch Publish time 24-11-2019 23:26:19

How would he know that they were overloaded?By looking at it??

You said it yourself

When driving my truck weighing around 42tonnes, with 470bhp and 1450lb's/ft torque at my disposal, on a single-carriageway A-road....I sit at 38mph, just under the legal maximum for my type of vehicle on that type of road.

To the ignorant and un-educated, I suppose that *could* look like my poor little 16 litre engine would be 'struggling'. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Lol i don't think he was talking about lorries.

Yeah but there's no law thats says you can drive as slow as possible because you don't like driving ,i think its called making progress on a highway .

It is in fact a failure to make no attempt to drive at the maximum speed for a clear road or at least a realistic speed ,weather and traffic conditions permiting.

This is why we should have a retest every 5 yrs to remind people that having car means driving at speeds faster than a horse and cart .

The ones I hate are the ones that only seem to be able to do one speed. I've followed a lot of people on a 60mph stretch of road doing 40mph which is very annoying as the road is busy and there are usually no overtaking opportunities. Then when they hit the 30 limit they still carry on at the same 40mphdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 And then when they are back in the 60 limit still at 40. What is wrong with these people, do they have any idea what they are doing? Are they watching the road that they're driving on or are they oblivious to everything around them? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7I thought the comment was a bit silly but that was how it came across and I meant to put one of these: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 in there this morning but getting up at silly O'clock makes it hard to think. We like to call our units names that are not repeatable on here. They are fully automatic and with no manual override interesting to drive to say the least and when fully loaded..... well lets just say that is more "fun" than usual especially when going up hill. I hope your comment about being "ignorant and uneducated" was not directed at me? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
