Well, yes, I suppose so.
Flight costs depend on when, and whether there is a sale, etc.
And time in the air. It's only a portion of the end-to-end trip.
Realistically it takes me
~ 1.5 hours to get from home to Manchester (my preferred departure airport for across the pond) regardless
~ 2 hours minimum check in time
~ 8.5 hours outbound flight time (less on the return, typically)
~ 0.5 - 1 hour (average) to clear the airport at the far end
~ 0.5 - 1 hour (depending on exactly where and how) to get to my chosen hotel
= ~ 13-14 hours door to door.
If the flight were 4 hours shorter (eg to Tenerife) then everything else would still be there and it would still take me 9-10 hours. In the overall scheme of things, it's not that huge. And (IMO) it's worth it! |
