Are you sure? Three lenses, and all with very small apertures...overlapping focal ranges etc...I don't find a single one of interest....Which was my 'issue' with the Sony Nex range as well (besides the look of the bodies)...

I agree there aren't many EF-M lenses, as I said myself.

But go to DXO and show me a better mirrorless lens for their price than the 22mm, 11-22mm or 18-55mm EF-M lenses.

Great if you live in a sunny climate perhaps and like the limiting overlapping focal range. And plenty of dof. Here in the uk I'd appreciate something faster and more varied. But good that there is choice.

Yes, a wider aperture does give you a bit more light and DoF, but comes at the expense of sharpness, distortion and CA, and 3x the price.

Yes, but like I said, in consideration of the OP's budget that you raised, "show me something better for the price".

Granted initial purchase price is very good. And if the limited choice offers everything you'd want then great. However if you want anything more, then you'd have to buy another system and the original price  becomes very expensive rapidly.

Something that was funny with Nikon as well. When you had an 'entry' model like the D7xxx series, you can use any lens. So relative expensive to start, but then a world opened up with very cheap and high quality lenses. Yet if you have lower cost initial model, you were stuck on expensive brand new afs glass....Sometimes there is more to good value than the initial purchase price....All my opinion naturally...

But whilst they may no longer be so compact, remember you can still had any Canon EF or EF-S lens to the EOS M if you wish and retain full AF/IS/etc control.  So it isn't like you are stuck with only those 3 lenses.

And once you start getting into the telephoto range, then the M43 lenses are not that much more compact anyway. Nor have anywhere near the range of models available in EF or EF-S mount with full functionality.

However, I think the key issue though for anyone buying an EOS M is whether they think Canon are going to demonstrate any further commitment to the system or not.   Until they do, there is every reason to think twice about it...

Well my 100-300mm Panasonic M4/3 fits in a jacket pocket with hood on (reversed of course) - same can't be said of my 70-300mm Sony G....
