A PC with staggered boot sequence?

I've tried the psu directly into the wall plug, and an extension lead, same results, if I switch power off, I get a staggered boot. If I leave it on, and start pc, it boots first time. I didn't mention this to Asus, as I've just figured it's doing this, besides they'll say it's the psu! They did say the Asus x470 prime Pro, is not meant to have a staggered boot, so something isn't right, the only other psu I have is a corsair 550w vx, probably not enough for the vega 56.

It sounds like you are putting your PC in standby/sleep rather than powering off? It could be that    the PC’s recovery status is stored in RAM (that is maintained when the mains supply is present) but is then lost when you switch off the PSU/wall socket, causing a stutter as the PC attempts recovery (and fails), resorting to a full reboot.

I'm definitely hitting the shut down command! I'll try chatting to evga, perhaps the psu is meant to do this, doesn't make sense though, I can control the staggered boot by not switching off the power.

It's not the psu that controls this but the motherboard.

I am sure I have observed it myself and on Linus techtips but can't find a particular example now.

When "cold" the motherboard is in a different state and does this stagger boot.

They don't like being switched off at the wall.

Sounds pretty normal to me - if you power it off at the wall then back on it will do this my current and last pc have both done this if cutting power completely.

Asus state that the mobo isn't meant to do that. Are some psu designed to check power on components, like a self test? Don't think mine stated that.

Chuckmountain, I've been getting stutters in every app I run, it's particularly annoying on Netflix etc, the person will move very quickly, or the landscape in pan, will jump. I've posted about this previously. I don't know if the two are linked, ie, the staggered boot, dodgy psu, or mobo.

No psu are normally dumb and controlled by the motherboard.

You didn't mention powering off the pc to Asus so on a normal shutdown and or reboot then you wouldn't expect this behaviour.  However as both myself and prezzy have said this can be expected behaviour of a first power scenario.

Google and you will you find lots of examples, some mention xmp configuration others just a initial hardware check before a proper boot.
