Thanks for this - was it easy to install? I have a wired doorbell which takes a feed from the lighting circuit. Hopefully it will be a nice and easy case of feeding the input from the lighting circuit in to the transformer and the 12v output to feed the Ring. This one looks OK for wall mounting (will be mounted inside the study just off the hall so not directly visible unless you look for it.

That's reason I picked it as it is designed to go on a wall where as the others I saw needed mounting in a rack/consumer unit. Yes as you already have a bell take the existing wiring that is running that. I've posted the wiring setup in one of my previous posts as recommended by ring themselves. Please shout if you need any other help and of course goes without saying be sure to turn off the power supply as always before installing.

Thanks, got it - will give this a go. Transformer ordered and will be here tomorrow.

Looking at the support page I see that there is a slightly different way if you have the Pro Power Cable. I rang Ring and they sent me one of these free of charge so will try the option they detail first. They still say we should use 16v but these things are hard to find in the UK.

As you have the pro cable kit then go with that...I didn't have it and the alternative setup they suggested worked equally as well as I didn't want to wait for the other kit.

So mine arrived yesterday (well it actually arrived on Wednesday but I managed to miss the delivery,and the second delivery on Thursday [emoji23]) ripped my old doorbell out and installed in less than 20 minutes with the transformer @Bal had specified,it came on perfectly,unfortunately as my router is in the roofspace I had a sneaking suspicion I wouldn't get wifi at the front door especially with the doorbell attached to a 2ft thick brick wall [emoji35] dug my old router out of storage and set it up as a wifi extender and all working fine,very impressed with it!

Hi guys,  I've just received my second Ring Video Doorbell, as I believed the first one to be faulty, but this second one behaves in the same way.

With motion detection off -

Press the doorbell, it rings, 10 seconds later the chime rings.

With motion detection on -

Press the doorbell, 10 seconds later the blue light spins, press it again, the doorbell and chime rings.

I guess this is what has been mentioned, how it goes to sleep?  I proposed this theory to the Ring customer service chap and he dismissed it saying it didn't have any kind of 'sleep mode'.

So, it seems like I either leave motion detection on and with alerts and get alerts all day, but record anyone dodgy, or I turn off motion completely and only record people that press the doorbell.

Anyone found a way around this?  A little sign next to it saying, 'Press until you hear it ring' perhaps?
