Huawei Losing Access To (Parts Of) Android

What will actually happen is pretty vague from what I have read.  But regardless it is going to have a considerable impact on the brand - potential customers will avoid buying Huawei out of fear of the unknown - expect sales to plummet unless some really clear unambiguous guidance comes out.

Who would buy a Huawei tomorrow - yesterday I would have done, tomorrow I would not simply because I won't take a risk on what might or might not happen.

Yes, from what I read on a tech site, "future devices" very likely means those that haven't yet gone through the Google's certification process, all available devices including the Honor 20 (launch event still happening tomorrow) will be fine.  Getting future Android OS updates is the only potential issue but there are millions of Android phones out there not running the latest OS, so it's not that big a deal (I say that having just picked up a Pro 30)

This does Google no favours either, I'm sure it's massively frustrating for them but they have to follow the law.  I'm sure it will be resolved sooner rather than later.

Just read this article from Pocket-Lint where they mention tomorrows Honor 20 launch still going ahead - What does Huawei's Google ban mean for your Huawei or Honor phone?

Be interesting if they address the news in anyway tomorrow, the press will no doubt be asking plenty of questions.

I imagine the phones which ''MAY'' be sold without google Play/Protect Gmail will be like other Chinese phones in that you can just download the APK and install them, I can't see them being totally blocked, just Huawei will not be allowed to provide it from factory.

Don't say I've warned you guys before...I'm made comments regarding Huawei several times now. Whilst undoubtedly they produce some very good tech, there are serious concerns by security services around the world regarding the operations of that company.

Because American companies like Facebook are 100% trustworthy? And no offence, I don't know who you are let alone what your "warnings" have been.

I'm almost positive that Apple/Farcebook etc are as untrustworthy as are loads of other American companies, but they would never impose the same sanctions on home grown companies!

Other than OS updates, surely it won't be that much different than getting Google Play etc onto an amazon fire tablet?

But if you use your phone for online banking etc then surely OS updates are essential.
