I fear it'll be one of those Nvidia technologies that they pay a few developers to implement but it never really goes beyond that because the majority of gamers won't be able to use it

It is, basically replaces the Titan and the 2080 replaces the 1080Ti on the price spectrum. fudge that, glad I upgraded my HT and sim rig instead now, granted I’ve spent over 10x more on those but none of it becomes obsolete in 5 years.

What's the performance improvement looking like for the 2180 over the 1080Ti?

Think getting a 2080Ti is going to be out of the question for me .
