Devs already incorporate other nvidia tech into pc games that are not present in the console version (FF15 being a prime example).  Raytracing will just be another option for PC gamers in certain AAA games.
Not sure what you mean by the ram limit?  There is only 1 nvidia card currently that has over 8gb ram, and that will not change with the new 2000 version (not including titan in that).  Which is actually a shame, I was hoping they would boost the ram for the nonTi versions.

I assume the risk management you speak of is that they must be confident that developers will take up Ray-Tracing as a standard because it takes significantly less time to engineer real-time dynamic lighting, shadows, and reflections over actually 'arting' them in.

Preordered the 2080Ti to replace my dual 1080 cards. The core count alone is a decent enough bump, expecting it to be about 50-70% over a single 1080 which colours me interested for VR performance.

Will probably sell off one of my 1080s on here, and pass the other one down to a family member.

Indeed
Monster hunter world on pc is a prime example of game devs not being interested in adapting games for pc.
Capcom haven't made any effort with the game to improve the graphics etc  They've gone for the easy money  Who can blame them?
How many more will ignore the new tech and concentrate on the real issues of reduced profits and totally ignore the new tech once the initial interest has died down
It's going totbe very interesting

Very happy with my current card Msi 1080ti Gaming X, lucky for me only paid £600 at the time, then prices shot back up. Hopefully it will last a few good more years yet.

No chance I will be getting one of these. Even if I came into a load of money I don't think my humble roots would allow me to pay £1200 for a graphics card.

The only benefit here is that there should be some cheap 1080Ti cards next year when I am looking to upgrade my 1070.

I've got the 11g as well  Its a brilliant card and I've not even had to oc it as its got so much power. I'd only swap this for a 2080ti because I don't want to have less vram. I paid 730 for mine which is a crazy amount. 1200 is insane and totally unnecessary for some time to come.
Very few have actually bought the 1080ti in the UK and even fewer will bother with its new ineration
The new gen cards are technologically way ahead of the games technology. That renders them superfluous

Same here never OC mine at all, very happy with the card, the price like you mentioned is insane, i really couldn't bring myself to pay that amount for a GPU.

Really didnt know that, about not many people buying the Ti model.

I'm in exactly the same position and am thinking exactly the same, these prices are just shocking and people shouldn't be paying that much money just for a graphics card. I'd rather give up PC gaming altogether than be ripped off like this.
