Yes, but by that argument every new faster gpu, cpu etc is allowed to be significantly more expensive due to it being faster. That should not be the case. A £1K  GPU is a total pisstake.

Probably means the 2080 will be a more affordable price than it would be otherwise though. I'm hoping for less than £600 which would be similar to the cost of the 1080 when it came out. Certainly better than the silly prices 1080ti has been selling for over the last year - I see some are still retailing for over £800.

I admit that is hardly deal of the decade either but it's more sensible than things have been.

I certainly won’t pay a lot for a graphics card. These sorts of prices might make me finally take the plunge and get a console instead.

I've already spent my yearly budget now, too late Nvidia, let's see what you have to offer next year, perhaps a significant price reduction if £1k is to be the price!

I need to upgrade my 980Ti for solid 4K gaming. Held off on the 1080Ti upgrade so will be looking closely at the 2080/2080Ti.

Currently my rig still has a i5-4670K 8GB RAM. Do you think this would be a bottleneck? I can change to a i7-7700 rig with 16GB RAM (not currently a gaming rig) but will have to do a rebuild of my parts/case and motherboard is only a basic MSI. Do have a high end PSU.

Still waiting for the single card that does 4K on max settings at 60FPS, with room to spare. Will defo keep my eye out on this though see what it brings.

Have you over clocked the 4670k ? stick an over clock on it , and add an other 8gb of ddr3   and you should be ok , ( as long as you have a decent cooler for the cpu )
i have a 4690k Oc'd to 4.7  and a 1080 ti & 16gb of ram , and can't just quiet hit 60 fps on some games ,
if your wanting to play 4k , ( and hopefully the new cards will lets do that ) you should ok with the 4670k for now .

Have corsair H80i v2 water cooler on it at the moment & could OC it but used as stock with the 980Ti.

Would using the i7-7700 (not K) still be better than using the OC'ed 4670K ? I already have the i7-7700 with 16GB RAM currently used as a business machine so could swap stuff around.

Yea it would be , but like you say -  means having to rebuild a pc to get what you want !

if you don't mind rebuilding , then yea go with the 7700.

Yeh, not a problem rebuilding, just wasn't sure if a stock i7-7700 would be better than an OC 4670K for gaming. Can I assume the PCI-E requirement is unchanged? Lost touch with upgrading stuff.
