Seems that this fashion is dwindling and is perhaps what I've read accurately described as an 'affluence & an anxiety tax'.

In Sainsburys now...

Carrots...
Sainsbury's basics "Odd sizes, great when it comes to the crunch"... 50p per Kg.
Sainsbury's Bunched SO organic £3.75 per Kg.

Same s...t different price (the basics actually look much better and fresher!).

Do you spend money on so called "Organic"?

On veg, hardly ever. On fruit, occasionally. On fish, never.
On meat, eggs and milk, yes, where possible.  Mainly for animal husbandry and welfare standards and also because of the abuse/overuse of antibiotics in livestock animals. Plus organic meat tastes better in many cases in my experience. Of course, when eating out, options are almost non-existant so we don't worry so much, but where we have the choice, it's organic, then free-range, then intensively reared.

I had some organic free range chicken breast from sainsburys, it cooked really well without the normal steam that I get from supermarket meat. I came to the conclusion that it wasn't pumped full of water like the normal stuff is. Paying 2.5 times the price is not really an option in the long run for us but nice now and again.

We don't buy organic chicken often as it's pretty expensive but we do buy free range from Lidl, which is a good compromise. Both the chicken breasts and whole chickens are very high quality. Organic chicken is a now and again option for us. However, I pretty much only buy organic pork and pork products, and organic beef and beef products. I buy in bulk and freeze until I need it, generally when it's on special offer somewhere. Organic pork is a world away in terms of flavour from the intensively reared stuff.

Organic chicken is probably x3 more likely to be a carrier for campylobacter than indoor reared chicken. Not a good idea to give 'Organic' chicken to young children if you have them.

Dunno, I'm not a fan of freezer fodder. I think fresh is when stuff is at it's best.

Go and lie down Chadford...

"Organic" veg is only fertilised with real sh*t, not chemicals.    That's it.

As for your scaremongering over organic chicken, get a life dude.

Prove it or shut up ;(

Agreed, sagely advice as always.

Real poop is just chemicals purveyed by BS folk in stripey jumpers and Hunter wellies.

Given how few people buy "organic" chicken I think you are overstating your case.
