That's probably about 2 years worth. Are the panels owned by the previous owner or one of these companies that fir them for free? I thought it was supposed to be quite hard to get a mortgage in that situation? Was anything picked up by the solicitor about it? You are supposed to have a certificate near your meter.

Hi Kevin,
You won't see an explicit 'money off' entry on your bill for having the panels, your electricity usage will just be lower overall as you will use the 'free' electricity generated by the panels before using the 'chargeable' electricity off the grid.

E.g. if you switch on a lamp on a sunny day, the electricity used will be free as it's being generated by the panels, switch on a lamp at night and the electricity used won't be free as it's coming off the grid and you will be charged for it.

Hope that helps!

Steve, that makes sense, they have been there for just under 2 yrs I think. They are owned by the company as opposed to me or the previous owner. As for the mortgage. It was a nightmare. So so difficult but finally got it sorted. They really don't like dealing with unowned panels! Not looking forward to remortgaging in a few yrs...
Not seen a cert, but will check. Thanks for the reply! Kev

Gary,

Who do you use for Feed In Tariff? Is it easy to apply for?

I have just moved into a new build with them integrated on the roof, only 1.44kw from 6 panels but might help?

Thanks in advance.

It should already be in place with your electricity supplier mate they claim it off the government then pay it to you. Have you bought the house or renting?

Currently looking into a PV system, does anyone have Gallium 833 panels? A supplier I spoke to recommended these, the specs seem good and they appear very efficient, they are 250w panels but he did say that they actually get the top of the line ones guaranteed at 260w per panel, I can fit 14 panels on my south-east (ish!) facing roof thus i'd be looking about a 3.6kw system, all fitted etc for £6k.

I've only just started looking into this and I know the FIT is due to change in a few weeks but I would not be looking to install until later in the year when my finances will allow it.

Any pointers etc? recommendations of certain panels?

16.14% efficiency seems like average for the cheaper end. Not kept up with the current feed in tariff what is it changing to?

So not much difference and it must be close to break even point too. I know a new ultra efficient panel had been developed so by the time you buy they may be more affordable.
