Which means another by-election circus will be coming up. What people don't remember about the Thatcher years is that she had a lot of luck with various policies that helped her electability, well up until the poll tax of course. That one got her a political knife in the back.
As for the Tories being in power in the 2030's ? They will likely mess up the Economy at some point, they won't be able to pin the blame on Labour. And who knows, Labour might end up with a Leader who can haul the Tories over the coals if it doesn't implode first.
The Tories are in just a dicey position as Labour when it comes to Party unity, there is a distinct possibility that Brexit will cause a split in the party. Not that Labour will be in any position to take advantage of it, whereas the Liberal Democrats might well be. My big fear is not an endless Tory Government it's that apathy will lead us to a point whereby hardly anyone votes, the policies politicians enact will cause social unrest and Parliament's very legitimacy gets called into question. |
