As first minister of Scotland she should have the common sense to actually check what the options are before giving press conferences. She obviously should be looking out for the best interests of Scotland, not trying to use every opportunity to gain independence.
Most sensible people can see that a UK exit from the EU has a massive impact on the viability of an independent Scotland in the short to medium term. That joining the EU as an independent nation would mean adopting the euro and running a financial policy that is at odds with SNP policy in order to satisfy the joining criteria.
Too many politicians these days (on all sides) speak before they think, or put idealism ahead of realism. |
