In England, the child abduction law states a parent can be charged with the common law offence of kidnapping. This is a complicated Act but does state: "In cases where abduction is feared and there is evidence to support that fear, the court may make a prohibited steps order to restrain either or both parents, from taking the child abroad."
It also comes under the "Child Abduction Act 1984" Section 1:
"It is an offence for a person connected with a child under the age of sixteen to take or send the child out of the United Kingdom without the appropriate consent." |
