I don't agree with Uber for a long list of reasons.
One of them is I like to see proper vetting of taxi drivers. We have a long thread on here regarding taxi drivers and abuse.
And If it purely showed the potential taxi driver had convictions for abuse, assault, drink driving, would you agree there was a point to such a check?
Hence the whole point of them.
Straw man. The link was part of a wider quote of growing sexual assaults from Uber drivers.
Also I have no idea what a detailed check of him might have shown. At the moment the case hasn't come to court. What if he's convicted? What if it turns out he has a history of violence? We won't learn until after the case and assuming he's found guilty. Agreed?
Given the long list of "problems" linked to Uber I am in favour of checks been tightened.
